Review: Roverhair Somium d’argan Shampoo, Conditioner, and Crystal Fluid

Hello folks!

How was your weekend? Mine was pretty laid back. We went out to eat and I have a yummy salad with apples! The rest of the weekend I cleaned the house a bit and became a couch potato.

Today, I decided to make some yummy Belgian Egg Cookies. But ironically, there are no eggs in the recipe. I know! That’s a little bit of a head scratcher as to why they named it egg cookies.

Anyways, has anyone ever heard of the Rover hair care brand? Maybe I’ve been living under a rock or something but I learned about it at the Hair Expo in Brussels. It seemed really interesting and I asked for a tester. They gave me 3 little sampler packets. Luckily, I have medium lengthed hair and don’t need much product.

So, let’s jump into it!

**I was not paid to do this review. These products were given to me in sample size.

My Hair Type: Straight and thin. Thinner in the front of the head and normal thickness in the back.

My Hair Condition: Healthy but tends to frizz.

My Hair Length: 18 inches.

The company was started in 1975 as a family run business that grew quickly to be recognized world wide. They pay attention to their products and uses raw materials and uses natural organisch ingredients. Most of their products are also vegan friendly.

Shampoo Review

First Impression: As you read above, I found this brand at the Brussels Hair Expo. The booth appealed to me with pretty earthy colors of tans, whites, and greens. They had many decorative plants and if any of you know, I LOVE plants. I looked harder and into the products and flyers. I read and could clearly see that they were earth friendly and all natural. Bingo! I wanted to try it!

Packaging: To tell you about the packaging for any of the products is going to be really hard as I was only given samples. I can’t tell you anything about the bottle or pump itself first hand. But I can tell you that based on the photos, the packaging looks sturdy and of good quality. The colors are very nicely chosen with beautiful emblem for this line.

Product: When I squeezed the product out of the sample package, there was enough for two uses. However, if I had long hair, it wouldn’t have been enough. The product light in my hands and foamed really well in my hair. It is a little bit more liquidy in consistency than most shampoos but a little went a long way. The smell was very fresh and light.

Price: 19.99€ for 500mL

With argan oil, keratin, and linoleic acid. PH Level 4/5. Roverhair.it

Pros: A little bit went a long way and therefore, you’ll be able to use less and save money!

Cons: None.

Targetted Buyers: For anyone of any age with dry, lifeless hair.

Ease of Use: In regards to the product itself and not the bottle or pump, it was very easy! The directions were clear and easy to read.

Potential Problems: None.

Alternatives: L’Oréal Serie Expert Absolute Repair. This is about 11€ for 500mL. This product smells good and is much cheaper for the same amount of product with the same result.

Claims: Cleanses, moisturises and nourishes; ideal for everyday use on dry, demineralised and dull hair.

Fullfilled Claims: This shampoo did leave my hair feeling clean!

Failed Claims: My hair did not feel moisturized until after I used the conditioner. I cannot judge if it nourishes the hair because I was only able to use it once. To judge this, it would take a few more uses.

Conditioner Review

First Impression:My first impression is the same as with the shampoo. I wanted to try it once I read all natural.

Packaging: I can only tell you the same about this product as with the shampoo as far as the packaging. Classy with a beautiful emblem for this line.

Product: The conditioner was also light within my fingers and there was only enough for one use in the package. After putting it on, I realized that I should’ve used less. Go figure!

Price: 21.50€ for 500mL

With argan oil, keratin, and linoleic acid. PH Level 4/5. Roverhair.it

Pros: You’ll be able to use less than most conditioners.

Cons: It’s deceiving. You need to be careful that you don’t use too much because it’s so light.

Targetted Buyers: Anyone of any age with dry and lifeless hair.

Ease of Use: In regards to the product itself and not the bottle or pump, it was very easy! The directions were clear and easy to read.

Potential Problems: None.

Alternatives: L’Oréal Serie Expert Absolute Repair Conditioner. This is about 25€ for 1000 mL. This product is just as light but I think it smells better! Plus, it’s cheaper. That’s all. The end result is the same.

Claims: Conditions, softens and nourishes; ideal for everyday use on dry, demineralised and dull hair.

Fullfilled Claims: My hair was immediately detangled in the shower without much finger combing. You could feel a difference after towel trying that it had softened my hair.

Failed Claims: I could not judge if it nourishes hair because this is something that you cannot see with just one or two uses. I wouldn’t suggest to use this everyday on your hair as it is not healthy to wash your hair daily.

Crystal Fluid Review

First Impression: Same as the shampoo and conditioner.

Packaging: Same as the shampoo and conditioner.

Product: I squeezed out the fluid from the package and was a little alarmed. I squeezed out way to much for my hair and it was heavy and greasy in my fingers. I didn’t want my hair to look greasy. I wiped some off and put it on my hair.

Price: 24.50€ for 150mL

With argan oil and keratin. Roverhair.it

Pros: Adds alot of shine to your hair and prevents you hair from being static-y.

Cons: Very easy to use too much and result in greasy looking hair.

Targetted Buyers: Anyone of all ages with dull dry hair.

Ease of Use: In regards to the product itself and not the bottle or pump, it was a little difficult and sloppy. But this could be because it was friend a tiny sample without a controling pump. The directions on the sample package were clear and easy to read.

Potential Problems: None.

Alternatives: L’Oréal Mythic Oil. This is about 11€ for 100mL. This is a lighter serum and you are able to control it better. It comes out more like a spray. You can either spray it on your hair when it’s damp or spray it in your palms for more control and distribute it onto your hair.

Claims: Conveys immediate shine and silkiness, moisturising hair and creating an antistatic effect. The result is exceptional softness and hydration.

Fullfilled Claims: Adds nice shine and silkiness to your hair. My hair is normally full of static electricity when I wear one of my winter coats and, that day, I wore the coat with the purpose to see the result. My hair was not static-y. My hair felt extremely soft!

Failed Claims: It seemed to add moisture to my hair; however, with a sample for one or two tries it is hard to really judge this. I was also not able to judge if it added hydration to my hair. These types of things are not seen after one or two uses.

My Take-Home Thoughts on the Shampoo, Conditioner, and Crystal Fluid: First, the directions on the shampoo and conditioner say that it is good for everyday use. I don’t think it is a good idea for anyone to wash their hair daily as this will leave you with dry hair. However, washing your hair 1-2 times per week is healthy and I would recommend this. In regards to the shampoo and conditioner itself, I would need to use it more in order to give a good review. I wish I was able to get more samples but that didn’t happen. However, I did enjoy the serum very much because my hair was nice, shiney, and not full of static! I would recommend this but don’t get crazy and use too much unless you want to look like a deep fryer.

So, tell me! Have you ever tried it? Does it do what it says it’s supposed to do? I wish I was able to try it longer but whatever! In my opinion, that was a downfall of the samples. They were not big enough to get a good opinion. Maybe if I was impulsive, I would’ve been all about it. But I’m like the supreme court judge and need some serious evidence that is concrete in order to be a believer.

Hope you enjoyed it!

Sincerely,

  1. I’ve never heard of this brand, but the packaging is quite beautiful! I wash my hair too much to use this (since I wash my hair at least 5 days a week), so I am glad to know that warning that it could dry my hair out!

    1. Yeah, the packaging is really nice. I just wish they gave a mini size of it instead of the packets, then I could see what the quality was like. I used to wash my hair like you but I worked my way slowly to 1 time per week and my hair is SO much healthier. But that depends on your oils. I don’t produce excess oil. Xx
